Audiobooks vs ebooks
Heyy so I have been reading every day for last 4 years. Sometimes just a few minutes other times hours, but i sticked with it and did it every single day. I have always wanted to try audiobooks, but after checking out audible since they offered free month subsriptions or something like that i realized that all of the books that i would want to listen to required me to pay money on top of that subscription so i just left. Now 2 months ago i stumbled upon MyAnonaMouse which is private torrent tracker and after doing interview (answering questions about their rules …) i was in. So I set up the whole stack with prowlarr, audiobookshelf, readmeabook and made it work together. Then i started downloading audiobooks that i liked. I quickly found out that i prefer “manually” choosing the audiobook from the website instead of readmeabook choosing them for me, so i removed it from my stack as well as prowlarr. I had fun setting them up, but in the end i want to check number of seeds, comments if there are any and choose which version to download myself.
So i completeley switched from reading books to listening to them and it was fine at the start since i was at summer vacation and the sun outside was so bright that just lying with eyes closed and listening felt way better then squinting my eyes and reading. I managed “read” more because listening is easier then reading with eyes. A lot of times i zoned out for few seconds and lost what was happening but since taking out the phone and going back seemed hard i didnt do it.
Once i returned home and went to listen to audiobooks while sitting on the chair on lying in bed i wasnt able to listen for long periods of time i always wanted to do something with my hands and eyes. For example checking discord while I listening or trying to tidy shelves. It didnt really work that way and i didnt get anything from what i was listening to. I mean i had general idea but it didnt feel right.
Now after 2 months of audiobooks i picked my jailbroken kindle again and started reading again and it felt way better. I can read at my own pace and stop, go back or reread things that need more attention. Also techical tearms are easier to understand when i see the words with my eyes instead of just hearing it.
Yeah so i went back to reading books, I have almost 300 audiobooks downloaded that i will continue to seed so i can get points on the myanonamouse website xd. So was this a waste of time? Not really, i had fun settings things up and it feels nice knowing that i have library of books that i can listen to. So when will i listen to these books? My plan is to listen to them while running. In the past i used to listen to podcasts while i ran since i find it better then music, but i dont really listen to podcasts anymore and i think that listening to books is way better then listening to podcasts.
But in the meanwhile i am glad that i am reading again, after setting everything up with audiobooks and choosing which ones i will like to read i felt that i had to use this system since i invested so much time into it.
Well thats it, thanks for reading, i just wanted to blab about this cya.
